Maternal and Infant Health Program (MIHP)
The Maternal and Infant Health Program (MIHP) provides services to Medicaid eligible families with pregnant women and/or babies through their first year of life. MIHP services are intended to improve the health outcomes of pregnant women and infants by providing health education, emotional support, nutrition education, childbirth and parenting education and help with transportation when needed. A team that includes a public health nurse, social worker and registered dietitian make visits in the home and/or office setting. Breastfeeding, improving healthy behaviors, coordination of care with other providers, smoking cessation and referrals for all types of community services are highlights of this program.
