| Sexually Transmitted Disease Control Program |
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), including gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, and hepatitis B result in
excessive morbidity, mortality, and health care costs among women, adolescents, and newborns. No one is
denied services because of inability to pay. The goals of the STD Program in Michigan and at the Central
Michigan District Health Department are:
- Prompt reporting of cases
- The provision of screening and treatment services for Michigan's citizens
- The application of interviewing and case finding activities to reduce complications and intervene in the spread of disease.
Services for our clients will be provided without regard to religion, race, color, national origin, creed, handicap, sex, number of pregnancies, marital status, age, sexual orientation or birth control preferences in a manner that protects the dignity of each individual.
Individuals seeking services from our agency will NOT be subjected to coercion to receive these services in regards to using any particular method of family planning or birth control.
