Are you looking for a unique opportunity working with schools in our community?

We welcome you to join our team as a Health Resources Advocate (HRA) full time (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) for the Central Michigan District Health Department while improving the health outcomes in the community. This candidate will serve as a Health Resource Advocate (HRA) for Sustained In-Person Learning to provide frontline support for relationships between local schools and the local health department. Activities include but are not limited to assisting school districts identify emerging communicable diseases, COVID-related health concerns and strengthen best health practices by providing consultation, prevention services, and appropriate public health strategies for the school districts. The HRA will help to address the greatest needs in school health: the health and mitigation challenges faced during recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to other existing and emergent health issues, immunization clinics and other needs to serve the child and adolescent populations served by public health programs.  

Required skills include having excellent communication abilities to accommodate health related needs in public health, while being detail oriented and possessing exceptional technical skills are necessary. Must have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Public Health, Nursing, Health Education, Community & Family Health, Social Work, Nutrition or another health-related field, plus two years of professional experience is required. Master’s degree is preferred and may be substituted for professional experience requirement. Full benefits, including health/life/dental insurances, 12 vacation and 12 paid sick leave days with an additional 3 ½ paid days of personal time per year, 12 paid holidays, MERS defined contribution retirement with up to 10% employer contribution. We welcome you to join our team as a Registered Dietitian (0.8 FTE, 32 hours per week) position in the Arenac and Roscommon County Branch offices of the Central Michigan District Health Department, improving the health outcomes of women and children in the community.  For the right candidates, this position may be separated into two part time positions.  This position is an integral part of our public health team serving both the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program and the Maternal and Infant Health (MIHP) Program, providing nutrition education, support, and direction to families. Having excellent communication skills to accommodate our client’s health related needs and concerns, while being detail oriented and possessing exceptional technical and counseling skills are necessary. Opportunity for utilization of new technologies in telehealth may be available. A Bachelor of Science Degree in nutrition and with current registration as a Registered Dietitian required.  One year experience in community health nutrition or outpatient counseling recommended.
