Hearing and Vision Screening
for Preschool and School Aged Children
Our state trained and certified technicians provide free vision screening services to children in preschool and in grades kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th grades. Free hearing screening is done for preschool children and those in kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade. Other children may be screened at teacher/parent request as well as free screenings for any child who is home schooled at any age. Any child not passing the initial and/or rescreening process is referred back to the parent for further medical evaluation by a doctor or medical professional. Referrals to other health department or community programs assist with this process and any subsequent treatment is also available.

Application Process: None. Preschool and school-aged children, including those that are home-schooled, can receive hearing and vision screenings by appointment through the local health department. In addition, our technicians provide screening in the local charter, private and public K-12 schools during the school year.
Fees: Paid by the local school district, when applicable. For those 3 – 6 years of age with Medicaid coverage, your insurance will be billed.
Hours: Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. –– 4:30 p.m.
