FOOD SAFETY TRAINING
Food Safety Training
The 2009 FDA Food Code (2-102.11) requires that the PERSON IN CHARGE of a Food Establishment must demonstrate knowledge of foodborne disease prevention. This is demonstrated...
By Compliance with the Food Code
By becoming a CERTIFIED Food Protection Manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program
By responding correctly to the inspector's questions as they relate to the specific food operation
Central Michigan District Health Department offers a food safety training which satisfies the Food Code requirement (#2 above). It is offered throughout the year as indicated on the printable Food Safety Training application form below. Recertification is required every 5 years to keep this credential current.
Note:This ServSafe class is designed to train managers of food establishments. It is a fairly comprehensive course and is not required for all restaurant employees. The expectation is that restaurant managers will train their own employees using the information gained from this course. As always, the CMDHD is available to assist managers on a more informal basis in any area of employee food safety education.
