What To Do If You Test Positive

“I have symptoms but am waiting for results”: Stay away from others right away until you have received test results. If test results come back negative, contact your healthcare provider for guidance, as it might be a different type of infection.

“I test positive for COVID-19” : STAY HOME AND AWAY FROM OTHERS FOR 5 DAYS.

  • If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house, but must continue to wear a well-fitted mask around others for 5 additional days.

    • IF YOU CANNOT wear a mask while around others for whatever reason, isolation is 10 days.

    • Well-fitting NIOSH-approved respirators (e.g., N95s) offer the most protection, however studies continue to support the use of well-fitting multi-layered cloth masks to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

  • If you have a fever, continue to stay home until fever free for a period of 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

  • Let your employer and child's school know you have COVID-19. Read more about isolation here.
